SCHENGEN VISA (EUROPEAN UNION SHORT TERM VISA)

Any Uganda citizen intending to travel to Spain for less than 90 days needs to apply for the Schengen visa. It includes tourism, conference, trade exhibitions, family/friend visits for no more than 90 days.

This visa can be issued by the French Embassy in Kampala or the Spanish Embassy in Nairobi and it is a personal errand (nobody can apply on applicant's behalf). 

In collaboration with the Consular Section of the French Embassy, this Consulate can assist UG citizens to apply for the Schengen visa. 

VERY IMPORTANT: this visa is approved or denied by the Spanish Embassy in Nairobi. The UG Consulate and the French Embassy in Kampala ONLY handle and submit the visa application.

Spain recently opened its borders to non EU citizens and from June 7th Ugandans can apply for a Schengen visa under some conditions:

FAMILY GATHERING VISA ("VISADO DE REAGRUPAMIENTO FAMILIAR")

This visa is applied by the foreign spouse and/or foreign children of a Spanish citizen. It's applied directly to the Spanish Embassy in Nairobi.
